Window Replacement &
Installation: Vinyl Windows

Window replacement and installation is often part of a total exterior renovation. It may also be part of your interior renovation if, for example, you want windows that meet building code in your basement so you can have a bedroom there.

Benefits of Vinyl Windows

Vinyl (PVC) is the most common material for windows today. It resists moisture, doesn’t conduct as much heat as other materials, and doesn’t change shape when the temperature fluctuates—very important in Calgary’s unique climate.

There are a number of types of vinyl windows on the market today. As with everything, you get what you pay for. We recommend investing in high-quality windows, as you want them to last.

Choose windows made of high-quality PVC with a deep frame depth. This will help ensure your window frames won’t discolour over time and that the frame will be rigid enough to install easily.

Full-frame Window Replacement Vs. Retrofit Window Installation

A full-frame window replacement involves replacing the frame of the old window. It needs to be done if there is damage to the frame or if you have any leaks or mold. The damaged wood is taken out and replaced so you have a healthy frame that can hold your new window for years to come.

In a retrofit, we simply put your new windows into the existing frames. It’s faster and cheaper than a full-frame window replacement, but should only be done if there are no problems with the frame and there hasn’t been any water leakage.

Our main concern is always the integrity of your building envelope. Our team will evaluate the state of your construction frame and advise you of the proper way to proceed with your window installation. If you can get away with a retrofit because the frame is in good shape, we’ll be sure to let you know.
