Options for Window Trim & Door Trim
Beautiful woods like cedar have traditionally been popular for a high-end look and they are still an option. But if you’re going to paint the wood, it’s best to go with something less expensive, such as pine or fir. Cedar should only be used if you are going to let its unique grain shine through using a stain.
You may also want to choose trim of the same material you’ve chosen for your siding. For example, if you’re using Hardie board, HardieTrim® is a great option. Similarly, if you’ve decided on Kaycan Eco-Side® or LP® CanExel®, you can choose the trim boards produced by the same manufacturer.

Exterior moulding can transform your home. Keystones, brackets and other features take a house from ho-hum to extraordinary in a budget-friendly manner.
Be sure to choose mouldings that have been engineered for exterior use. Synthetic mouldings are very practical as they are lightweight and durable and you won’t have to worry about warping and cracking due to expansion and contraction with temperature changes. That’s important in Calgary’s climate. Research your options until you find the material and design that’s right for you.
